QS-GAP serves as a practical manual for good agricultural practice throughout the world. It is based on an equal partnership between agricultural producers and traders wishing to establish efficient certification standards and procedures.

The QS-GAP standard was developed, first and foremost, in order to strengthen consumer confidence in the agricultural production of foods. This is to be achieved by reducing the environmentally-damaging influences of agriculture, reducing the use of medicines and chemical pesticides and by implementing measures to ensure the safety and health of people and animals.
